India Regulator Laments Delay – Developing Telecoms

TRAI has sent several recommendations to the government on important issues concerning growth of telecoms and broadcasting and cable services

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) complained about slow decision-making on the part of the Department of Telecommunications and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Developing Telecoms reported.

“Over the last few years, TRAI has sent several recommendations to [the department and ministry] on important issues concerning growth of telecoms and broadcasting and cable services, but many are still pending decision [or] implementation. If decisions are not taken in a reasonable time-frame, the recommendations lose their relevance.”
