(AF) China has set a three-year target to have 560 million people accessing 5G mobile and a third of businesses hooked up to the fast wireless network, according to a report in China Daily.

Ten government bodies including the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology announced the plan, which would build on the 365 million 5G connections already in place, the report added.

China, which accounts for 80% of the world’s 5G connections, hopes to help nurture its digital industries by accelerating the rollout, the report stated.
