New Long-Duration Battery Could Transform Renewables Industry: WSJ


 

(AF) A newly developed long-duration battery made from commonly found iron could help transform the energy industry, according to The Wall Street Journal.

American startup Form Energy has made the breakthrough of creating a cell that can absorb power and discharge it over days, the report stated. While the battery would be too heavy for use in electric vehicles, it could help hold solar or wind energy when the sun goes down or the weather settles, the report said.
