India to Pass 1 Billion Covid-19 Jabs: ET

Nine months after launching huge drive, health authorities are now focusing on ensuring second doses are administered

India is set to hit 1 billion Covid-19 vaccinations on Thursday, the Economic Times reported,  nine months after the government initiated its huge jab drive.

Indian authorities are now focusing on ensuring second doses, the paper said. Over the past week, the trend of first doses exceeding second doses has been reversed.

The government is set to mark the day with numerous events, including the release of a song and an audio visual film by health minister Mansukh Mandaviya, while SpiceJet will unveil their new aircraft fleet livery that includes images of prime minister Narendra Modi and healthcare workers.
