Boeing has been knocked into the red by a $3.5 billion charge as it grapples with its problematic 787 Dreamliner programme, The Times reported, double a previous forecast.

Shares fell as much as 4.8% as Wall Street considered an overall price tag of some $5.5 billion. Boeing halted deliveries and cut manufacturing as regulators scrutinised repairs.
