Yuan Holds No. 4 Spot in World Payments Rankings – Xinhua

In terms of international payments, excluding payments within the eurozone, the yuan ranked fifth with 2.29% in January 2022


China's currency slipped to near a two-year low.
China is the world's second largest economy and is vital to global growth.

 

The Chinese currency has retained its position as the fourth most active currency for global payments by value in January 2022, with a share of 3.2%, Xinhua reported, citing Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication (SWIFT) data.

The value of yuan payments increased by 10.85% compared with December 2021. In terms of international payments, excluding payments within the eurozone, the yuan ranked fifth with 2.29% in January 2022.
