The Chinese Navy’s Lhasa, a type 055 stealth-guided missile destroyer and one of the most advanced warships in the People’s Liberation Army, led a series of drills in the Yellow Sea, the South China Morning Post reported, citing analysts who said the exercise sought to simulate armed confrontations with ‘weaker regional counterparts’ in the East and South China Sea.
The Chinese carried out air-defence, anti-ship and anti-submarine drills over three days, the report added.
