A dramatic accident involving a Nio test vehicle that reportedly plunged off the fifth floor of the company’s headquarters in Shanghai has put the “EV maker into the spotlight”, according to a report by CnEVPost, which said the crash had become “one of the most discussed topics on Weibo”.

People trapped inside the car were rescued after firefighters arrived and freed them from the vehicle late on Thursday afternoon but the circumstances as to why the camouflaged vehicle flew out of the building’s carpark were unclear, the report said, adding that the group confirmed the accident.
