Afghan Diplomats Stranded, Penniless – The Times

A total of 55 officials and family members seek asylum and have been given temporary work visas while the US processes 100,000-plus applications

Most of the diplomats to the US appointed by the former Afghan government have applied for asylum after they were left in limbo by the Taliban takeover, with barely enough cash to keep the embassy lights on, The Times reported.

A total of 55 officials and family members are seeking asylum and have been given temporary work visas while the US processes more than 100,000 applications from Afghans who fled Kabul.
