Apple’s iPhone recently became the top-selling smartphone in China, but the company owes that success to CEO Tim Cook, who secretly signed an agreement with Chinese officials, The Information reported.

With the a $275 billion-plus pact, Apple promised it would do its part to develop China’s economy and technological prowess through investments, business deals and worker training.
