Asian Truckers Leaving Canada’s Industry –  Globe and Mail

Frustration and disgust at recent blockades may be the final straw for them atop concerns about wages, safety, isolation and exhausting conditions

Canadians make up a major axle in the Canadian truck sector, comprising 16% of truckers in 2021 compared with just 2% 25 years earlier, The Globe and Mail reported, citing Statistics Canada data. 

But drivers like Nihal Singh are now mulling an exit from the long-haul industry. Frustration and disgust at recent blockades and the encampment in Ottawa may be the final straw atop concerns about wages, safety, isolation and exhausting conditions.
