BYD Pips SAIC, VW to Become World’s No. 2 EV Seller – Nikkei

Tesla, the world’s largest seller of EVs last year, maintained its lead in the first six months of this year despite running into a few hurdles, the report said

BYD has joined many other Chinese brands in a price war started by Tesla.

 

China’s BYD overtook domestic rival SAIC Motor and Volkswagen to become the world’s No-2 seller of electric vehicles (EVs) behind Tesla in January to June this year, Nikkei reported, citing data from researcher MarkLines and carmakers.

Tesla, the world’s largest seller of EVs last year, maintained its lead in the first six months of this year despite running into a few hurdles, the report added.
