China may be on the brink of a recession in the wake of its latest strict crackdowns to curb Covid outbreaks across the country, the Wall Street Journal reported on Sunday, citing economists.

Purchasing managers’ indices data released on Saturday showed factory and service-sector activity declined for a second straight month in April, falling to their lowest levels since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, the newspaper reported.
