China Discovers New Mineral on The Moon – Global Times

Changesite-(Y) is the sixth mineral identified on the Moon, following discoveries by the US and the former Soviet Union, reported the Global Times

China has become the third country to discover a new mineral on the Moon, said the China Atomic Energy Authority on Friday, the Global Times reported.

The authority’s vice-chairman Dong Baotong has named the new phosphate mineral, which was found by scientists in lunar basalt particles, ‘Changesite-(Y),’ said the report. It became the sixth mineral identified on the moon, it added, following discoveries by the US and former Soviet Union.
