China Hands Tesla Tax Break After Musk’s Taiwan Comments – TN

Taiwan’s politicians felt Musk’s views were driven by his business interests in China, Taiwan News said.

China gave Tesla tax breaks for two of its models after Elon Musk recommended that China should “figure out a special administrative zone for Taiwan,” Taiwan News reported.

Taiwan’s politicians felt Musk’s comments were driven by his business interests in China, said the report, after the country’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) said Tesla’s Model X and Model S would be exempt from vehicle purchase tax.
