China’s securities regulator on Wednesday denied a media report that China will ban variable interest entities (VIEs) from listing overseas.
The statement by the China Securities Regulatory Commission comes after it was reported that the country is planning to ban companies from going public on foreign stock markets through VIEs, closing a loophole used by the country’s tech industry to raise capital from overseas investors.
