China’s Xiaomi Sells 200m Phones in India – TechCrunch

Xiaomi said the first 100 million phones took five years to sell, but the next 100 million took just three. Chinese companies account for four of the top five smartphone brands in India

Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi said on Wednesday it had shipped its 200 millionth handset in India, as New Delhi investigators continued a probe over alleged tax evasion and foreign exchange violations, the US website TechCrunch reported.

Xiaomi said the first 100 million phones took five years to sell, but the next 100 million just three. Chinese companies account for four of the top five smartphone brands in India, and have squeezed out domestic makers Micromax, Karbonn and Lava, TechCrunch noted.
