Foreign holdings of China bonds rises a 26th month


(ATF) Foreign institutional investors have increased their holdings in Chinese bonds for the 26th consecutive month, Shanghai Securities News reported.

China Central Depositary and Clearing data released Wednesday showed January bond custody volumes held by overseas investors rose to 3.1 trillion yuan ($922 billion), a year-on-year increase of 62%. It rose by 5.96% in December.

At the same time, market activity has increased. Bond Connect shows a total of 6,470 transactions worth 588.3bn yuan changed hands in January. Daily turnover was 29.4bn yuan, a record high.
