Geely reaching for the stars with satellite technology patent


(ATF) Chinese auto giant Geely has dropped another major hint that it has ambitions above and beyond the terrestrial domain after filing a patent for micro satellites.

The Hangzhou car-maker revealed on Tuesday that it has patented a “radio frequency channel for micro-satellite measuring and transmitting”. It is also described it as an “integrated measuring and transmitting machine”. 

According to the Tianyan Check App, the patent applicants are Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co Ltd and Zhejiang Shikong Daoyu Technology Co Ltd.

The patent abstract explains through the cooperation of a high-speed radio frequency modulator and a power amplifier unit, the bandwidth of the radio frequency transmission channel is increased, and the transmission power is increased.vIt can adapt to higher data transmission rate requirements.

Zhejiang Shikong Daoyu Technology was established in November, 2018, with a registered capital of about 540 million yuan. Its chairman is Li Shufu, the billionaire business magnet behind Geely.

The company’s business scope includes satellite communication systems, optoelectronic technology and electromechanical technology.
