India garnered record bids to the tune of 1.45 trillion rupees, or $18 billion, on the first day of auctions for the fifth generation (5G) communications spectrum, The Economic Times reported.

India has three private telecom operators – Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea – vying for the 5G spectrum, along with new entrant Adani Data Networks, a subsidiary of Adani Group.
