India may auction its airwaves for 5G telecom services around May next year, The Economic Times reported, quoting remarks by Telecom and Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Thursday.
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai), which is meeting stakeholders, is expected to submit a report by February-March, and the auctions will be held immediately after, Vaishnaw said at a media event.
The Indian government is exploring a technological upgrade across industrial, consumer, healthcare and educational sectors before rolling out 5G services across the country.
