More than 80,000 tourists are stuck in Sanya beach resort on China’s Hainan Island after local authorities imposed travel restrictions on Saturday, according to a report by AFP, with flights out of the city and train journeys suspended.

More than 480 Covid cases were reported on Sunday, but tourists who want to leave need to report five negative tests over the next week, officials have said, but hotels have been pressed to offer discounts till the restrictions ease, according to the report.
