The origins of the Covid-19 pandemic was most likely bats that carried an ancestor of the coronavirus that may have then spilled over into a mammal sold at a wildlife market, a new World Health Organization report concluded, according to The New York Times.

But the authors said that although no new data pointed to a Wuhan laboratory leak, more Chinese input was needed. “We haven’t received any reports that really indicate that there is a lab leak that we feel is strong to follow up on,” Marietjie Venter, the team’s chairwoman, said.
