Omicron is in the community transmission stage in India with hospitalisation and ICU admissions rising, the Times of India reported citing genomic consortium Insacog. However, most cases have been mild or asymptomatic, the report said.
The Indian health ministry has not used the term ‘community transmission’ to describe the spread of covid-19 infections in India since 2020, the report added.
