Australia’s Qantas has reported a A$1.28 billion ($925 million) underlying loss for the six months to December 31 after extended Covid-19 lockdowns and border closures devastated travel demand, The Age reported.
The result compares with a $1 billion underlying before-tax loss in the same half a year earlier, as flights fell to just 18% of pre-pandemic levels and costs increased while the airline prepared to exit its pandemic hibernation.
