A 33-storey “breathing” tower designed to be solar responsive has opened in Shenzhen, Civil Engineering reported. Chicago-based Skidmore, Owings & Merrill worked on the 158-metre tall Shenzhen Rural Commercial Bank headquarters.
Due to its mass and positioning, the “diagrid” format reduces the building’s interior solar gain while responsive solar shading technology protects the interior from gaining heat from sunlight.
