Singapore Must Rely on Local Support to Boost Tourism – ST

The SingapoRediscovers voucher scheme helped jumpstart local tourism. This was a $320-million initiative launched in late 2020 to encourage locals to support Singapore’s attractions and hotels.

If it were not for locals visiting its attractions and patronising its hotels, the Singapore tourism sector would have been wiped out in the past year, the Straits Times reported, citing Singapore Tourism Board chief executive Keith Tan.

One initiative that helped jump-start local tourism was the SingapoRediscovers vouchers, a $320 million scheme launched in December last year to encourage locals to support Singapore’s attractions and hotels. About 1.4 million of some three million Singaporeans eligible for the $100 vouchers had made redemptions as at December 1.
