Singapore Small Businesses Face Big Jump in Power Bills – ST

Despite countermeasures, businesses say hefty electricity bills are taking a heavy toll that could see some SMEs collapse or pass on costs to customers

An energy crunch has increased electricity bills for some local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) by three to five times the normal size, and more are expected to be hit this year as contracts under old rates expire, the Straits Times reported.

Despite countermeasures by the Energy Market Authority (EMA), associations and businesses told the Straits Times that hefty electricity bills are taking a heavy toll that could see some SMEs fold or pass on costs to customers.
