Toyota Motor Corp plans to resume operations at its joint-venture plant in Changchun as the city relaxes covid restrictions, Kyodo news agency reported. The plant had been shuttered since mid-March.

The Japanese automaker plans to resume regular operations on Wednesday, the report said, citing an unnamed source.

Auto sales in China plunged 11.7% in March from a year earlier, after the country imposed strict lockdowns to contain the spread of the highly contagious Omicron variant.
