UK Politicians Call for Ban on China CCTV Firms – BBC

CCTV maker Hikvision told the BBC that anti-CCTV ”fringe groups” are “demonising” the company, the BBC reported.

Some 67 British politicians called for a ban on the sale and use of closed-circuit television cameras made by China’s Hikvision and Dahua, the BBC reported.

The two companies have been linked to reports of human rights violations in Xinjiang, where it is alleged the companies’ CCTV cameras are used for surveillance, the story said. When asked for comment, Hikvision told the BBC that anti-CCTV “fringe groups” are “demonising” the company, the report added.
