Huawei Technologies founder Ren Zhengfei issued a wide appeal on Monday for employees – who total 195,000 around the world – to come forward with ideas on the conglomerate’s future direction, as it struggles to adapt to the consequences of US sanctions, according to a report by the South China Morning Post.

Zhengfei’s post on the Huawei employees’ forum urged staff to “speak freely”, the report said, suggesting that different departments discuss options with one another and come up with a strategy that is decided by “tens of thousands of experts”, not a handful of people.
